Recycleye gewinnt die Urban Challenge des Circular Labs

2 December, 2021 – Following confirmation that we had reached the final of the Circular Urban Challenge programme, the Recycleye team was thrilled to attend the final judging event on 25th November.  Competing with start-ups from seven different countries, the fantastic pitch by Paloma Aldeguer, one of our Technical Sales Managers, was chosen as a winner amongst the finalists!

The Circular Urban Challenge programme is a European competition between companies working in the circular economy field, organised by The Circular Lab (the open circular economy innovation centre of Ecoembes, run in collaboration with the City Council of Logroño).

The main objective of the Challenge is to seek the most effective and innovative solutions to solve three issues faced by cities in terms of circularity and waste recycling. These are urban citizen science, innovative technologies for the management of urban waste and innovative applications of recycled materials for urban use.  The 5 winners all proposed solutions based mainly on new technologies or business models, and will now receive financial and networking support.

During the competition process, 3,000 start-ups competed from from around 100 went through different phases of selection by a professional jury of specialists from The Circular Lab and the City Council of Logroño.

According to José Luis Moreno de Castro, Innovation Manager of Ecoembes, this initiative „allows us to continue advancing on the path towards circularity, jointly finding useful and innovative solutions in terms of recycling and circular economy and achieving, thanks to technology, more sustainable cities“.

Thank you to ECOEMBES & Logroño City Council for this opportunity. We’re excited to help transform the future of Spain’s household waste recycling through AI & robotics technology with you.
